Course: Recording technique / Sound Engineering / Producing


This course provides an excellent basis for a full-time education sound engineering and music production.
The following aspects will be discussed:
-Recording technique
-Mixing technique 
-Editing of music
-Mastering process
Some basic knowledge and musical background is required. 

The course will be given in 5 modules:

Module 1:
Introduction to the studio, knowledge about microphones and recording equipment.
Module 2:
Recording software/ hardware, pre-amps, connectors, cabling, routing, monitoring.
Module 3:
Various microphone placements/ set-ups, room acoustics and acoustic of musical instruments. The activities and statements of a music producer.
Module 4:
Recording of various acoustic instruments or ensembles. Instrument placement, microphone  positioning, room acoustics, phase, cross talk, musical balance, and timbre. 
Module 5:
Mixing, editing and mastering. Reference levels, monitoring, calibration, equalizers, compressors, limiters, K-standards, PQ coding, master CD / DDP.

Duration per class: 120 minutes (maximum 2 persons per module).
